Tim Brown LLB (Hons) is a seasoned expert with a wealth of experience in the domain of intellectual property protection, particularly in matters related to Internet intellectual property.
He currently serves as the Head of Brand Protection and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team at Com Laude, where he has provided advice to some of the world’s leading brands for over two decades.
In addition to his work at Com Laude, Tim is an independent Expert for Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS), an award-winning dispute system for the .uk domain name space.
He was also a member of Nominet’s .uk Policy Stakeholder Committee from 2013 to 2016, where he supported and enabled the policy process in the .uk space.
Tim’s expertise includes a deep understanding of Internet systems and infrastructure, including web, email, and DNS service provision. He stays up to date with the latest developments in technology, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to ensure that he can provide his clients with the best possible advice.
Away from work, Tim enjoys hiking and mountain biking in the Pentland Hills. He is a dedicated professional who is committed to helping his clients to effectively protect their intellectual property online.

After Com Laude acquired Demys in 2018, Tim was appointed as the Head of Brand Protection for the group, operating out of Edinburgh. In this capacity, he is accountable for overseeing the implementation and execution of the group’s online brand protection services.
Tim has expanded the Brand Protection department by adding new members to the team and enhancing the department’s suite of services. Additionally, he has authored and produced a guide to the domain name system titled “The Secret Life of Domains” and is actively engaged in training and development initiatives.
Tim continues to drive innovation and leads the development of Com Laude Intelligence, a state-of-the-art platform that combines artificial intelligence and tailored algorithms to manage clients’ domain portfolios more efficiently.
Additionally, Tim also serves as the liaison between the Senior Leadership Team and the company’s diversity and inclusion committee.

Tim was promoted to the position of Director of Brand Protection at Demys Limited, where he drove the development and implementation of the company’s online brand protection services.
One of his significant achievements in this role was the creation and launch of the company’s unique, industry-leading domain name watching service, complete with a proprietary ranking methodology that prioritises infringing domain names based on the level of threat they pose to brands.

Tim was named Operations Director at Demys, where he led the corporate domain name management team in delivering exceptional service to clients.
Tim brought his signature focus on streamlining processes and optimizing efficiencies to this role as well, introducing new systems and processes to further enhance the team’s effectiveness.
In addition, Tim successfully managed the domain name portfolio for the London Olympic Games in 2012, in addition to delivering top-notch results for all Demys’ clients.

At the outset of his career, Tim was the first full-time employee of Demys Limited, where he served as the sole Domain Name Manager. He was then promoted to Senior Domain Name Manager.
